CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury called BJP-led NDA government action in Jawaharlal Nehru University as reminiscent of the emergency. Yechury said the BJP's ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh wanted to convert India into a radically intolerant, fascist Hindu rashtra. He said that the BJP government at the Centre is highlighting the JNU issue to divert the attention of people from its failures.
