VizagRocks Posted March 8, 2016 Author Report Posted March 8, 2016 To be honest, there are a few intellectuals who can defend Hinduism without sounding silly. Like SN Balagangadhara. but age has taken a serious toll on his sanity. Its interesting to note that his visit to HCU, and the absolutely needless comments he made on dalit literature while he was speaking there, were among the things that led to what finally happened in the university. I lost a bit of respect for SNB after that.

VizagRocks Posted March 8, 2016 Author Report Posted March 8, 2016 At a similar lecture 10yrs ago, a dalit guy stood up while SNB was on stage and basically tried to stop him from talking. While the rest of the people were busy trying to get him out of the hall, SNB went after him, and apologised and got him back to the hall, and made sure he listened to what that guy had to say.
Maryadaramanna Posted March 8, 2016 Report Posted March 8, 2016 Given how horrible the entire culture is. It has formalised casteism, treated a section of society as less than human, has several unstructured diety worships that violate human/animal rights, and still is romanticised in the West. Being a Hindu is not looked down upon in the West, which is sad. I wish and I will hope I can convince more non-hindus to look down upon Hinduism. Let me tell you why. Hindus have become too lethargic, and are spouting nonsense, when it comes to supporting their religion. Do u have any evidence that Hinduism formalized casteism. Hinduism, as a religion asked one person or instructed someone to ill treat a section of the society

Hinduism, as a religion asked one person to ill treat a section of the society next time you are in India, open your eyes and look around you. yes. manu smriti gave inscriptions on how to treat people based on their varnas.
VizagRocks Posted March 8, 2016 Author Report Posted March 8, 2016 I don't know if he's now feeling bad that Rohit Vemula died, and he had a small part to play in it too. But before Vemula passed away, SNB was asked about his outburst on dalits, and he was arrogant enough to refuse to apologise. What a turn around for a man, who was willing to listen to the harshest opinion too.
