Yes, in normal scenarios.  What if that others sponsored you for your higher education and helped to become what you are now when your parents didn't have enough money to do that?

My mistake. I didn't marry their daughter. But they are close relatives. 

I tried repaying and even gave them some gifts almost equivalent to money I was provided for my education.
