Mega Heros Scaring Distributors

Considering the recent track record in trade, distributors are going slow in bagging the films of Mega Heroes. While the case was much different earlier where distributors would line up to grab the films of Mega Heroes, now they are thinking twice before shelling out whopping amounts to buy their films.



First, it was the turn of 'Mega Power Star' Ram Charan whose Bruce Lee, which also had his veteran dad Chiranjeevi in cameo, tanked without a trace at the Box Office incurrring hefty losses to its distributors. Dil Raju had distributed the film in Nizam and suffered losses to the tune of Rs 5 Crore. Producer Danayya said to have compensated Rs 2 Crore to Raju and he even said to have got the promise from Charan that he'd act in his production in future.



And next is Varun Tej's Loafer which has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The film did make losses to its buyers who're now waging war against its producer C Kalyan, director Puri Jagannadh. Varun's other film Kanche, which was made with high-budget, too failed to recover its costs ending up as loss venture.



The latest one joining the bandwagon is nothing but Pawan Kalyan's Sardaar Gabbar Singh. Released with massive expectations, the movie turned out to be damp squib. Trade analysts say that the film's loss would be somewhere close to Rs 45-50 Crore as the film had done pre-release business of Rs 100 Crore.



Even Sai Dharam Tej's case is nothing much different. His Subramanyam For Sale was declared as an average grosser at the Box Office and it was a close shave for distributors. All these are giving jitters to the film distributors who're now playing it very safe when it's coming to star-centric films. Even when it's coming to stars of other big families, distributors aren't ready like before unless and until they're pretty confident on the film.

While big distributors like Dil Raju, Suresh Babu, Allu Aravind can manage to overcome the losses as they have a slew of projects in pipeline, it's not the case with small & medium distributors who put their properties at stake for the films and thus difficult from them to bounce back.
