Hyderabad: In an another major development for Telangana, Centre has given an in-principle approval to the State's detailed project report (DPR) on two industrial corridors.

 

Now, it's only one step away from final approval as the Cabinet will take a final call on the DPR. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhara Rao has proposed two major industrial corridors along the highways of Hyderabad-Warangal and Hyderabad-Nagpur.

 

Industrial corridors are one of the several measures put forth by KCR for the holistic development of the State. The proposed two industrial corridors will accommodate oil refining, textiles, handlooms, handicrafts, paper units, mining, engineering, live stock, agro-based industries, poultry and other small and medium enterprises (SMEs). These segments have potential to generate self-employment and job opportunities to millions of people. Man power availability will be another positive factor for these industrial corridors as several educational institutes are located along the highways.

 

Based on a letter from KCR, the Centre initiated approval process on DPR on industrial corridors. Telangana industries department officials had further kept the pressure on the Centre to speed up the approval process. Once Telangana gets final approval on two industrial corridors, there will be a dry port and railway facilities for speedy transportation of industrial production.

 

There's also a proposal on setting up a high-speed rail on 140-km Hyderabad-Warangal corridor and 585-km Hyderabad-Nagpur corridor. In addition to Hyderabad, other districts in Telangana Ranga Reddy, Nizamabad, Nallagonda, Warangal, Medak and Adilababad will prosper economically.
