Getting any cloud storage hipaa complaint is tough thing.. You would need signed contracts from clients to use data in cloud.. Most of companies use hybrid model where data is physical servers and only app resides on cloud.. The easy solution I can think of is, have your data somewhere on premise behind firewall and Implement api gateways to read the secured data or have other small doc dB  on cloud which uses non confidential data. U might need to  invest on network routes to read data faster from on prem..

ok but there is absolutely no way they would allow the users to just scan a license plate and get the details. It will be a absolute no from drivers and also getting this approved. But I wish you good luck for all the approvals and for your app to be a huge success. 

MS azure allows you to do it but it has to be gone through a screening cjis or something untundi

This data was authorized from DMV legally and we are getting all the info legally. We used Cloud Services for storing this data till UAT Stage. Only glitch/issue is that we get data every week(Sat Early Morning) through ETL jobs loaded into our Cloud Database, I said glitch because lets say if CAB is registered Mon/tues/Wed/Thurs/Fri or any days we will not have any info regarding that Cab till Sunday Early morning.

 

Now we were good using Cloud Storage till UAT but now we are in Phase of moving this to PROD and NOW THEY HAVE RESTRICTED saying that this is confidential DATA and we can not use cloud/Amazon Web Services as Storage.

 

Now need all your input for Storage, please suggest which is physical and less expensive.

Dude. check Virtual Private Cloud. HPE offeres vpc where all your data is private. only you will have root access to the machine. Get a Client Managed machine with whatever the spec u need. it offers many. CM machine is trustworthy coz HPE should compromise customer Data. good luck

Also uber does a BG check first , if you have a criminal history u wont be able to register with Uber as a driver in the first place

How about contacting third party vendors like ironmountain. Does it have to be on your own datacentter ? I know ironmountain provides data center space.
