ఈ లాటరీని గతంలో యూడీఎఫ్‌ ప్రభుత్వం నిరుపేద మహిళల సహాయార్థం మొదలుపెట్టింది. ‘స్త్రీ శక్తి’ పథకం ద్వారా వారానికి ఒకసారి డ్రా తీసే ఈ లాటరీ టికెట్‌ ధర రూ.40 నుండి 50కి పెరిగింది. ఈ టిక్కెట్ల ద్వారా సేకరించిన డబ్బుని ప్రభుత్వం ప్రత్యేకంగా వృద్ధులు, మహిళల సంక్షేమానికి, పునరావాసానికి ఉపయోగిస్తుంది. ప్రభుత్వం ఈ పథకం ద్వారా ఏడాదికి రూ.100 కోట్లు సేకరించే యోచనలో ఉంది.
