The Indian small screen industry has been going through some phenomenal changes in the recent past and given the kind of funding it has been getting and the involvement of the various entities into the small screen entertainment circuit, it has become a world by itself that is far larger in terms of size and talent when it comes to the film industry.

Entertainment apart, even the news channels have been able to come out in various formats and different channels have been giving out their new own form of coverages and news programs. In this process, a new thought has begun to make rounds and this could well be a very controversial one given the norms and traditions that still exist in the Indian society and the mindset of the many Indians who form the major part of the population.

The thought is that will there be a time when the news channels will be seen with readers going nude just like the way it is shown in the American and other foreign channels. The initial thought has sparked off a major reaction of anger and ire but looking a little deeper, folks say that reality shows like 'Big Boss' were not even thought of about five years ago so what is the harm in looking at a possibility of something like this happening.

There is another team of people that say nudity cannot be complete when it comes to the naked news format but then enough sensuality can be provided which will not cross the line of vulgarity and obscenity but at the same time provide enough visual entertainment for the readers. Practically, such an approach will definitely spike the TRP ratings by leaps and bounds but the truth is will there be any person who would want to go nude deliberately on the screen in front of millions of people is one question. Secondly, how are the legal laws framed in our constitution and will they be in a position to accommodate such acts.

The questions are many and while time will take its own course towards finding solutions, the mere thought of it is stimulating a few. Let us see how this goes…
