Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today assured Lok Sabha members from Andhra Pradesh that the government was looking at their demand for the special category status for the state.

Soon after the business resumed in the House after lunch, members of NDA partner TDP and the opposition YSR Congress started shouting slogans demanding special category status for Andhra Pradesh. Lok Sabha had witnessed two brief adjournments over the issue earlier in the day.

“I can appreciate some Members from Andhra Pradesh certainly are concerned over a particular issue. I have repeatedly said that the government stands by the commitments it has made in supporting Andhra Pradesh to the fullest.
