usually people sign it when you do not trust your partner or you do not believe in the future condition.you write clearly what belongs to whom and whos right is what.

by doing it you are avoiding alimony to some extent in case of divorce.otherwise your partner is eligible to claim share in all you properties and your earnings.

You can make arguments to keep whatever you make before marriage as yours, even without a prenup. Prenups are not the final decree in case of a divorce. They are just good starting points for your lawyers to negotiate with each other.

I don't understand this 'trust' about partner. Marriage is a legally binding relationship. It is normal to set terms of expectations in such relationships. If you so love your partner, just don't register your marriage. But then, govt. eventually catches upto you, and makes you register your union in some way or the other.
