The current generation Honda City is fighting a losing battle against the Maruti Ciaz. However, Honda plans to fight back and is planning to launch a facelift of the City in 2017. This is the first comprehensive facelift for the current-genneration Honda City. The new Honda City 2017 is known as the  ‘2GC’ by the boffins at Honda and the upcoming model will rival the likes of Ciaz facelift and next generation Hyundai Verna. As with most mid-life facelifts, the City gets a host of interior and exterior changes. There are some mechanical updates too but we await official details at the moment. Read on for all available information on the new Honda City 2017.

New Honda City 2017 Launch Date

Earlier, it was rumoured that the facelifted City 2017 will launch around this year’s festive season. Now, however, it is very probable that the 2017 Honda City facelift launch is scheduled to take place in 2017. The new model City will rival the new generation Verna and the updated Ciaz, both of which are also India bound. The revised Honda City will try to claw back to the top of the sales charts, which are currently seeing domination by the well-priced Maruti Ciaz.

New Honda City 2017 Exterior Design

The Honda City 2017 looks close to the China-spec Honda Greiz. While the City’s design will continue to be based on Honda’s ‘H Design’ philosophy, it will have a bolder grille, new bumpers, new projector headlamps with LED DRLs, and Civic-like wrap-around taillamps. It will also get slight changes to its sheet metal. The Honda Greiz boasts of slight dimensional changes as well. The car’s length and width have grown by 45 mm and 10 mm respectively. The height and wheelbase, at 1477mm and 2600mm resp., remain unchanged. The Indid bound 2017 Honda City too could see these changes.

New Honda City 2017 Features

  • Bolder Front Grille
  • New Front Bumper
  • New Rear Bumper
  • Projector Headlights
  • LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs)
  • Civic-like Wrap-around taillamps
  • New Boot Lid

New Honda City 2017 Interior

Talking about the interior, the new City facelift shares in plenty with the current model. The City is easily among the most feature-laden models in its segment. It comes with features like-

  • Automatic Climate Control
  • Front and Rear AC Vents
  • Eight Speakers
  • CD/Aux-in/Bluetooth Compatibility
  • Rear Parking Sensors with Camera
  • Five-inch LCD Display
  • Rear Power Outlets

New Honda City 2017 Competition

The new Honda City 2017 will rival the updated Maruti Ciaz and all-new Hyundai Verna. Additionally, it will also rival the Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.

New Honda City 2017 Engine & Transmission

The 2017 Honda City will share its engines with the current car. However, both the engines- 1.5-litre, iVTEC Petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC Diesel- will get a re-tune. The updated Petrol and Diesel engines should produce 120 BHP and 100 BHP respectively. Another big update will be addition of the 6-Speed Manual Transmission on the Petrol car. This gearbox comes from the Honda BR-V.

Not much else is currently known about the new Honda City 2017. But you can stay tuned for complete details.
