if you cannot afford then Edison is best option. In edison check for durham woods - but this is just 1mile to  Metuchen train station. 

blueberry apts, raspberry apts, they are very close to Edison train stations - walkable to train stations - 5-6 mins walk.

 

oxford arms- This is also close to edison train station, but it will be 1 mile . Good thing they have shuttle serivce to train station.

Edison to New york penn -  $380 monthly pass

Metuchen to New york penn - $336

so $44 difference.

Now from the above option you can decide.

Nenu 2012 lo choosa aa rates. but ippudu it must be very expnesive..better not to live in that places.

Edison/Piscataway/Metuchen are better and affordable

if you are looking for lease option flexible then you should not go for a leasing apartment communtiy.

they are few communites in edison area, where 2bed condos are owned by lot of desi owners, and they are very much flexible with the lease. check for waterford aprtments in edison, and traditions in South plainfield, village point in Edison. Condos in these communites are owned by Desi owners

only in Sulekha they post the rentals

if you work in midtown, look for apartments in carteret. School district is not so great. but on the positive side, they are new apartments and there is a direct NJ transit bust which will put you in port authority in 45minutes-1 hour or you can drive to wood bridge and take NJ transit from there. Parking is 3$/day or i believe 160/quarter if you take the quarterly pass

rents are around 2000 for 2BHK in the area but i am not too sure on it.
