Cash for Vote: Supreme Court Directs HC to Decide Within 4 Weeks - As usual Nakka went to Modi to catch his feet

New Delhi: Supreme Court on Friday ordered High Court to decide on quash petition filed by AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu within four weeks. The apex court further said that if no decision taken by the High Court during the stipulated time, the petitioner can approach it again.

Challenging the squash petition filed by Naidu and the eight-week stay order on ACB court hearing, Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy filed a petition in Supreme Court. Senior advocate Napre, who represented Ramakrishna Reddy in Supreme Court, informed the apex court that “Chandrababu Naidu is trying delay the case in cash for vote. This is pertaining to luring MLAs in Telangana. At this juncture, stay order on the ACB Court hearing is not justifiable. Considering the evidences submitted by us, ACB Court has ordered for rehearing the case. We request Supreme Court to cancel the stay order.”

However, Supreme Court observed that it can’t intervene in the case in the wake of High Court’s eight-week stay, but ask High Court to resolve it within four weeks.

Ponnavolu Sudhkara Reddy, a senior advocate, said that Supreme Court’s orders are a major setback for Chandrababu Naidu. If High Court didn’t take any decision within four weeks, Naidu can approach Supreme Court, he said.
