H1 6 years count doubt

How do we count the h1 6 years. Should we start counting from the day they received first h1 petition or from the day h1 is approved?

H1 start date and any vacations to India will be excluded from 6yrs count. you can reclaiom those days

Nope the day you started working on H1B.

 

Ex:- if you are MS guy on OPPYT  and your H1 Approved on may 2012. H1 Start date is 01 October 2012. six years count start from o1 oct 2012.

no man. Your I797 will have the H1B start date . That will be the start date.

Mine is little complicated. Applied in Jun while I was on OPT extension which ended in Jul. Then used cap gap until Oct or so. H1 approved in Jan. So, it should be Jan for me?

Thank you. Technically my first day of H1 as per I797 is in Jan. I think it is Jan then.
