Andhra native dupes NRI of 22cr, held

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thampanoor police on Thursday arrested a 48-year-old man, hailing from Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, who was wanted on charges of duping Rs 22 crore from a city-based NRI businessman. The police identified the accused as Venkitaram Babu.The accused had allegedly duped Shaiju Mohammed Thaha , who owned a company in Dubai . Venkitram purchased Rs 22 crore worth oil from Shaiju on credit. 

As surety he had surrendered a copy of his passport. However, he used his sources back in India to forge another passport and escaped from Dubai.Shaiju had filed a complaint at Thampanoor police station. The accused was caught when he tried to take a flight to Dubai from an airport in Visakhapatnam.
