The students were told which candidate they had been siding with, and with that in mind, they were ready to make their decision. “We talk about exact facts and issues and put them on two sides of a spreadsheet,” Moore said. “Then the students debate the facts in class.”

On Wednesday, in small groups of about five, the students stepped into a voting booth to write down a candidate of their choice.

By the end of the school day, after teachers calculated the votes and added them to a spreadsheet, there was a clear winner: Hillary Clinton.

The Democratic presidential hopeful won with 52 percent (277 votes) compared to Republican rival Donald Trump with 43 percent (230 votes).
