kiladi bullodu Posted November 22, 2016 Report Posted November 22, 2016 PM Modi’s move to demonetise currency notes of higher denominations in the country has received varied responses. While there are many who are calling it a ‘surgical strike’ on black money holders, many have slammed it calling it a painful act for the middle and lower classes of the society. Source So now when the whole of the country has literally been forced to stand in queues outside banks and ATMs, what do Anil Bokil has to say now? Anil Bokil is the same man who had suggested the idea of demonetization to the Indian Prime Minister in July last year and he now blames the mess on the government using his advice “selectively”. In conversation with Mirror recently, Mr. Bokil shared his thoughts on what went wrong during the implementation of the move. He said, “The proposal I placed before the PM was a comprehensive one and had five aspects. However, the government chose to use only two of them.” Source He said the move was a sudden one and is unhappy that much thought wasn’t put in behind the implementation. “The move cannot be welcomed or rejected. We are compelled to accept it. The road map we gave the government would not have caused such pain,” he said, disappointed. Advertisement Here are the five ideas Mr. Bokil claims he had suggested Narendra Modi: 1. A complete abolition of direct and indirect taxes. 2. The taxes were to be replaced with Bank Transaction Tax (BTT), wherein every inward bank transaction would attract a levy, say about 2%, that would go into the government kitties at various levels – Centre, State, and Local. 3: Cash transactions (withdrawals) should not attract tax. 4. All currency notes above ₹50 should be withdrawn away from the market. 5. Put a cap to cash transactions above ₹2000. Source “If all these were done together, it would have not only benefitted the common man but also changed the system completely,” he said. Bokil also went on to add that he, and his team behind the thought, had not predicted so many deaths because of the move. “But the government announced the operation without using anesthesia, so patients are bound to lose their lives,” he said. The Pune man is now going to propose the idea of withdrawing the ₹2000 notes to PM Modi and wants to meet him on Tuesday to convince him to follow all of their suggestions. Quote
