Was just trying to understand the dalit concept and how people were categorized. But looks like you have taken it in another way and are throwing sattires The question you asked is loaded. To draw parallels with the western world (atleast since the start of industrial revolution), dalits are Indian equivalent of slaves. Whether it was social injustice or caste crime is a bit pointless. It was the norm of the day. The morals then were much different. More important is what is it today. continuing that system today is a crime. There are laws against such practices, but they continue to exist in various forms. Quote

VizagRocks Posted January 20, 2017 Report Posted January 20, 2017 I have no idea how to answer this question. I think the question is mostly redundant. Treating someone as less than human is a crime now. So why should there be a discussion if its a social injustice or crime? treating it as just social injustice is diluting the seriousness of the crime, right? Quote

Thats when india will shine. Solution dakha kadhu mundhu point wise research chedham . How it started and what it is now? how can a society(is it the whole society or Powerful castes ruling- may it be Brahmans at that time or Kshatriyas) caste out some one as Dalit?? What was the necessity then? how did it help then society and what is its impact on current society? Simply curbing the caste is not an ideal solution and I bet no govt will take that decision Quote

If we go back in to the initial days of the system, it was not crime. I am not quoting it as a crime, but Crime by caste. Which caste were they before? or why were they caste less? Quote

Pick a side Is being Dalit a Societal injustice or Caste based crime. P.S. I am a bit poor in English and I am learning great from you and others in DB every day. A word a day 1) I have opened this website. 2) I saw that I have a notification. 3) I saw that you have quoted my name in one of your posts. 4) I immediately searched for my electron microscope. Yes. An electron microscope is what I need to find sense in your posts. Quote
