JANASENA Posted February 9, 2017 Report Posted February 9, 2017 The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday took into custody a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) working at Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, on charges of illegally amassing assets worth crores. The ACB found a fleet of luxury cars, including a Mercedes-Benz, Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Polo, Ford Ecosport and Mahindra Scorpio which were parked at six houses, owned by MVI Mohammed Ghouse Pasha, in six different locations. He owned homes in Hyderabad, Kothagudem, Karimnagar and Khammam. Ghouse lived a lavish life disproportional to his income. After several months of surveillance, the ACB officials conducted raids at ten different locations including LB Nagar, Malakpet, Moinabad, Bandlaguda in Karimnagar and Kothagudem. Most of his properties were registered in the name of his wife, son and daughter. The ACB officials seized 1.7 kg of gold ornaments worth Rs 48 lakh, documents related to an 18-acre farmhouse at Moinabad, 17 acres land in Jangaon worth Rs 1.69 crore, a shopping complex in Warangal and several open plots worth Rs 35 lakh. The officer holds a reputation for extorting money from motorists passing through checkpoints. He also allegedly collects bribes while processing applications for driving licence and travel documents. The ACB officials had contacted his son under whose name most of the properties were registered. His son, an MBBS dropout, gave inconsistent answers. It was found that most of Pasha’s money was invested in land and buildings and he receives a large sum in rent every month from all these properties. One of the ACB officials told that Pasha had been detained at Chanchalguda jail. On asking why it took so long for the ACB to find out about Pasha’s wrongdoing, the official refused to comment further. Quote
