i believe problem is not with your friend's wife. The problem is with your friend. Somehow your friend is encouraging, his wife's behavior. I assume your friend is more dependent on his wife. As long as he can't able to no to his wife's behavior and take actions, he has to face these consequences.

If he can't able take right decisions, he is gonna loose everything including money, joy, and self respect in life. Suggest him to behave like grownup, and take decisions.
