It's just a govt rule that companies like paytm, airtelmoney have to be registered as banks if they cross certain amount of money in transactions ...

 

They can't function as actual banks , they cannot collect money and give interests or give finance to people ... 

 

Once they get registered as banks , People will only be able to send and receive higher amounts of money through these payment gateways, Some stupid govt rule that's it ,

Its like paytm. also, you can use it as a regular savings account for which you will also get interest payments.

Airtel Bank gives Interest of 7.25% on savings account...
