They lured some of the highly reputed researchers of AI labs from CMU by offering all kinds of benefits. Google is not CMU to sit silent and watch while someone steals it's people and ideas.

Apparently it took google 7 years to build on that technology for SDcars and Uber just took 9 months .

Even before that, Uber lured top talent from CMU. CMU started driverless concept 30 years back. Uber set up a tech center in Pittsburgh to target these researchers.

actually all this came into lime light because of an accidental CC in the email by a vendor.

google has proofs against the ex employee who is a top executive in uber now.
