Is there such a thing as public morality? If yes, then the society must set terms for it. What all are unacceptable, what all are acceptable. Even if its not practiced, it can be held as an ideal to judge govt/society's actions.

If its the responsibility of the oppressed to rise everytime, there's nothing to complain when a bunch of desperate people loot homes, or blow up buildings, or kill people for money. because the system doesn't listen to them.

The counter reaction to this reaction will be a police state, and further erosion of public morality and freedom.

That's why it helps not to have smug responses to people who are struggling. like you ask 'Take up responsibility for your own life/group'. It doesn't work for all groups.

Democracy is the biggest social experiment that has been going on since the last two centuries and even it isint perfect...the only option is to wait and watch for the next phase of rule..Untill then, accept the mandate or popular mandate.

India and most countries are not just democracies. They are also Republics.

Just because someone wins an election, he doesn't have the mandate to do anything/everything that he pleases. People can and will challenge him, place roadblocks on his path, etc. Its his job to convince people.
