unless and until your transfer is denied you are good to work..

if you get denied after Aug 2017, you will go into out of status immediately. Even if you apply trough new employer after Aug 2017, you will get new approval without i94, so you need to go out of country get stamped again.

 

240 day rule is max you can work  after your i94 get expired while decision is in pending.

if you applied for h1b transfer you cant revoke by your self, your current employer has to do it. Then yes you can go back to old employer.

if your old employer also applied for h1b extension while your new employer transfer petition is in pending, I am sure both will get RFE. even if you dont get RFE, lets say your current FTE employer petition is denied after August 2017, then you are out of status in their system, even your old employer application processing vachina adhi kuda deny chestharu since you are not in status.

 

That why people do it in premiums instead of taking these kind of risk if something goes bad. unfortunately there is no premium option for next 6 months.
