H1 to F1

my 6 years H1b is ending soon...want to stay legal after that without crossing...what is the process to go back to school...should I go back to other country to get f1 visa stamp or...stay here and  can apply for i20 n proceed with course's. Please help

 Cant u apply for. Extension beyond 6 yrs

after 6 years....need to stay out of country for 1 year n then apply for h1 again. No I140 here
