Director of one of the greatest Tamil movies - Aaranya Kaandam (Thiagarajan Kumararaja).

he lives in a very small PWD apartment. He never used to come out of his room in all his 20s. Just watched movies on TV, walks to and from his college.

And then he made this movie. He made just one movie in his entire life.

yes. He's just started another one. He says he doesn't care about making movies that much. even though many want him to. He's now making another one. just started I think.

there's another filmmaker, but he was boycotted after his one movie. His name is Ruddrayya. The movie's name is Aval Appadithan. That's another classic. the kind that tamil movies never attempted after the 70s.

yes. That movie was opposed by some vigilantes, and was not allowed to be screened. It had a very limited run in Chennai suburban theatres.

When people asked the director about it, he simply says that it's the producers problem, not mine. He can cut it anyway he wants to and release it, I don't care.

but DVD came out, and it became an instant classic.
