May be you are not aware man, in some parts of coastal andhra every marriage used to have bhogamelam...it's gone now afaik.

It really saddens me when I see extravagant weddings and the cost involved behind it. I agree its a commerce and business where money keeps flowing and people gets jobs but then again, this practice is getting worst..

Imagine a middle class father working hard for 20 years and saving each and every penny just to get his daughter married off in a grand ceremony ?

there is no single def. ..the most abused one is something similar to recording dance. 

Original one used to be a dance program by devanginis or vesyas in the town. 

Its there since puranic times with a diff. name.. but it was a cultural program than anything else.
