That's the only positive sign. It can quickly turn into despodency.

1950s India also had this kind of 'positive' energy fresh off creation of republic, and self rule.

But India didn't benefit much from that energy, because everything was centralized. That is the same mistake this govt is doing. To be fair, the last govt wasn't much better either. But this govt is more brazen about the things it does, and won't handle criticism well, without sending mobs after 'anti-nationals'.

in 1950s, for all the crap Nehru did with centralizing power, he atleast made sure that he created lasting institutions -scientific, industrial and political.

the current govt is talking about taking money away from social research - in a country that is extremely poor. Not exactly increasing budget for applied tech research too.

Nobody knows what they are trying to do, except engage people in whatsapp groups with fake news, and win elections by creating divisions in society.

They can't keep doing it for long.
