timmy Posted June 16, 2017 Author Report Posted June 16, 2017 The situation in Darjeeling has been tense in the past few days The Gorka Janmukthi Morcha took offence to CM Mamata Banerjee's statement that Bengali would be made compulsory for all the students The GJM protest against this turned violent - vehicles were burnt, tourists stranded On June 15, GJM president Bimal Gurang's residence was raided and bows and arrows, baseball bats, knives, crackers seized. The GJM said the weapons were traditional equipment, and that the raid highlights there demand for seperate Gorkhaland where their culture will be respected. video lo Quote
