Indian kids should also learn how Hindutva leaders of the 1950s hoodwinked the south into joining the union. Madras should've refused to join.

India doesn't deserve to be one country. and won't be for long.

I am sure even though Mahatma Gandhi himself was religious, he was in no way the quintessential hindutva icon. He strongly opposed a hindu raj in the country. He was for secular India, although the definition of Indian secularism is different than of western.

I can understand why you think Gandhi is not Hindutva icon. because the guys who call themselves Hindutva worship those who killed Gandhi. but they were the reactionaries at that time.

Congress was a pure Hindutva party until Indira Gandhi, and even after her demise, until Italian Sonia came into power. 

Gandhi used his religion to reach the masses. He was extremely popular only among hindus. He is no way a secular. Jinnah was secular. but even couldn't stop Pakistan from becoming what it became.
