do you mean draining intellect - as in losing his intelligence every passing second, or drainage - as in down in the actual  intellect that revels in drainage/swamp?

doesn't the latter say something about the adaptability of that intellect, which is probably more useful than higher intellect, in case a tsunami gobbles up the entire world tomorrow?

I meant the latter. Although the word "drainage" possibly implies something that is continuously moving in a single direction, in this case it refers to an intellect filled with drainage.
