న్యూఢిల్లీ: ప్రభుత్వ రంగంలోని ఎయిర్‌ ఇండియా అమ్మకానికి రంగం సిద్ధమవుతోంది. బుధవారం జరిగిన కేంద్ర కేబినెట్‌ సమావేశం ఇందుకు సూత్రప్రాయంగా ఆమోదం తెలిపింది. అయితే ఈక్విటీలో ఎంత వాటా విక్రయించాలి? ఎలా విక్రయించాలనే విషయాలపై మంత్రుల స్థాయి కమిటీ తుది నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంటుంది. పీకల్లోతు అప్పుల్లో ఉన్న ఎయిర్‌ ఇండియాను పూర్తిగా ప్రైవేటీకరించాలని నీతి ఆయోగ్‌ ఇప్పటికే సిఫారసు చేసింది. దీర్ఘ కాలంగా నష్టాల్లో ఉన్న ఈ సంస్థ అప్పులు ఇప్పటికే రూ.52,000 కోట్లకు చేరాయి. యుపిఎ ప్రభుత్వం ప్రకటించిన రూ.30,000 కోట్ల ఉద్దీపన ప్యాకేజీతో ఎయిర్‌ ఇండియా ప్రస్తుతం నెట్టుకొస్తోంది. గతంలో టాటా ఎయిర్‌లైన్స్‌ పేరుతో ఎయిర్‌ ఇండియాను నిర్వహించిన టాటా గ్రూపు మళ్లీ ఎయిర్‌ ఇండియాను కొనేందుకు చర్చలు జరుపుతున్నట్టు ఇటీవల వార్తలు వచ్చాయి. కేంద్ర కేబినెట్‌ నిర్ణయంతో ‘మహారాజా’ నిర్వహణ త్వరలోనే చేతులు మారే సూచనలు కనిపిస్తున్నాయి.

మరోవైపు ఎయిర్‌ ఇండియా ఉద్యోగుల సంఘం నీతి ఆయోగ్‌ చీఫ్‌ అరవింద్‌ పనగడియాను కలిసి ప్రైవేటీకరణ ప్రయత్నాలను వ్యతిరేకించింది. ప్రైవేటీకరించే బదులు ఎయిర్‌ ఇండియాకు ఉన్న రూ.52,000 కోట్ల అప్పుల్లో రూ.30,000 కోట్లు రద్దు చేయాలని కోరింది. సంస్థను ప్రైవేటీకరిస్తే 25,000 మంది ఉద్యోగుల భవితవ్యం ప్రమాదంలో పడుతుందని ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేసింది. గత ప్రభుత్వాల తప్పుడు నిర్ణయాల వలనే ఎయిర్‌ ఇండియా ఆర్థిక పరిస్థితి తలకిందులైందని ఉద్యోగ సంఘాలు పేర్కొన్నాయి. ప్రైవేటీకరణ అనివార్యమైతే ముందుగా తమ జీతాల బకాయిలు చెల్లించాలని డిమాండ్‌ చేశాయి.

This is the best thing that can happen to Air India...This should have happened way back in 2003...but then again thanks to the regime change, since been living on a bailout package only to double the debts...

Fresh lease of life..but TATA's might not be the right guy, why do we want to raise capital with in the country for a debt ridden airline when foreign firms are willing to dump their money in Indian aviation market ?

Air India is worst financially managed in india.. vague  memory that it has more than 50k crores debt. though it is running in loses earlier govt bought number of planes that is not necessary/needed. selling air india would hel to recover some of wasted tax payers money and wasting any more in future.
