lazybugger Posted July 4, 2017 Report Posted July 4, 2017  1. GST is going to cause a lot of heartburn to vendors, and may even cost Modi his next election. 2. But I want Modi to win atleast until 2029. 3. Modi ruling for another couple terms will definitely create the atomosphere for anti-India sentiments, and help TN find a critical mass of people interested in breaking away from India. 4. But by that time, central govt will have its foot on TN's throat, by way of GST, and can throttle its economy at will, in case TN agitates. so I'm not sure if its a good or bad thing. Its mostly good I guess. revolutions are never pain free no.  Quote
Android_Halwa Posted July 4, 2017 Report Posted July 4, 2017 Well, like I said earlier..TN will fight for independence and eventually end up splitting into two states with in India...will become a laughing stock for every other state. Quote

I say, GST is overall bad for the economy, good for govt coffers. Why do you think the world's most successful country (US) doesn't have GST? but my question was entirely different. Quote

lazybugger Posted July 4, 2017 Author Report Posted July 4, 2017 1 minute ago, batman said: how is it bad for economy? dude, its badly designed. 18% that congress proposed is unworkable, if central gets half of it. 28% is too high for a growing economy like India. Check which other countries have this rates. don't say slabs. all countries have slabs, talk about the highest rate. Quote
lazybugger Posted July 4, 2017 Author Report Posted July 4, 2017 Only welfare states have this high indirect taxes. Is India gearing up to be a welfare state, or are they going to use this money to initiate more transfers from the poor to the rich, by building useless infra like metro, airport, etc? Quote
lazybugger Posted July 4, 2017 Author Report Posted July 4, 2017 anyway, topic diverted. as usual. morons. Quote
