Vishwaksena Posted July 18, 2017 Author Report Posted July 18, 2017 First of all, India cannot put a ban on imports of Chinese products as India is a member of the ‘World Trade Organisation’ (WTO) which regulates all the international trade between countries. For those who think you can defy WTO regulations and go ahead and put a ban in place: Chinese products are cheaper. If we ban Chinese products, customers will have no choice and have to buy goods at higher rates. With no competition, Indian goods manufacturers may rise the prices. We are also importing primary goods from China like computer hardware, electronic components etc. These primary goods are used by Indian industries to make final products. If we ban Chinese products, Indian industries have to purchase these components from other countries at higher prices. At present, India has no good alternatives to some of the Chinese products. India earns large sum of money by imposing Anti-dumping duty on specific goods imported from China. If we ban Chinese products, China may ban Indian products. It is a trade war kind of situation where China can pressure it's other allies too to ban Indian products. Increasing isolation will make you look more vulnerable in the international market China exports only 2.3% of its exports to India while India exports 4.3% of its exports to China. Indian exports to China:(2014) The 10 major commodities exported from India to the China were: Cotton: $3.2 billion Gems, precious metals, coins: $2.5 billion Copper: $2.3 billion Ores, slag, ash: $1.3 billion Organic chemicals: $1.1 billion Salt, sulphur, stone, cement: $958.7 million Machines, engines, pumps: $639.7 million Plastics: $499.7 million Electronic equipment: $440 million Raw hides excluding furskins: $432.7 million Chinese exports to India:(2014) The 10 major commodities exported from the China to India were: Electronic equipment: $16 billion Machines, engines, pumps: $9.8 billion Organic chemicals: $6.3 billion Fertilizers: $2.7 billion Iron and steel: $2.3 billion Plastics: $1.7 billion Iron or steel products: $1.4 billion Gems, precious metals, coins: $1.3 billion Ships, boats: $1.3 billion Medical, technical equipment: $1.2 billion Quote
vasu_deva Posted July 18, 2017 Report Posted July 18, 2017 first of all indian government is not banning, its the people that are boycotting as long as govt doesnt meddle in this ban issue no ramifications u cant force public to buy because of ramifications Quote
dakumangalsingh Posted July 18, 2017 Report Posted July 18, 2017 why would India has to ban, ppl should be aware and should prefer to buy Indian goods over chinese counterparts. just like we did to P&G, Unilever in FMCG market by prefering patanjali froducts in a way a creates increase of demand for local made goods,Indian economy may benefit indirectly protecting our market, in other words of @lazybugger free markets never helped in prosperity of any country, why should make others prosper when we are capable of making ourselves prosper ani @vizagrocks cheppamannadu Quote
