Some credit cards offer trip cancellation insurance/reimbursement , if you have any of them , use them while booking such trips

Ofcourse , you need to have very valid reason and there may be restrictions , I think some websites also offer this for a specific amount like 10-20$ on top of your ticket price , you can cancel your ticket and you will get full reimbursement of charges when you purchase that additional travel insurance
