tennisluvr Posted August 30, 2017 Report Posted August 30, 2017 2 hours ago, siru said: rule#1 to be GOAT is that player should have a winning record against all of his peers and Nadal is better on hard surfaces too. Australian Open: Nadal, 3–1 French Open: Nadal, 5–0 Wimbledon: Federer, 2–1 Grand Slam finals: Nadal, 6–3 Australian Open: Tied, 1–1 French Open: Nadal, 4–0 Wimbledon: Federer, 2–1 Says who, and who defined that rule???? Even when you compare the ages, Federer is 5 years older than Nadal so it's fair to say that Nadal has the advantage of youth which is a huge plus against someone who's five years older than him. And if that winning record against all his peers were to be the barometer, then Djokovic is 26-24 against Nadal which means that Djokovic with 12 GS titles is >>>> Nadal with 15 GS titles. For the moment the GOAT centers around who won the most number of GS tournaments, and Federer has a lead of 4 GS over Nadal. So till Nadal catches up with him there, there's no way he can be the GOAT over Federer. Plus Nadal's 10 GS titles have come on one surface the rest being 3 Hard Court titles(1 Australian, 2 US Open) and 2 Wimbledons at his prime compared to Federer who has 8 Wimbledon titles and 10 hard court titles. So for the moment, Roger Federer is the absolute GOAT. Quote

GOAT is reserved for players who dominated everyone in the game like Jordan or Ali ..lol federer never did he doesnt even have olympic gold and yes nadal has 1. Quote

Only Djoker has lead over all in Big 4... It doesn't mean he is great........ no the rule is for evry 1 across all sports. MJ is GOAT because he is 6 for 6 in the finals ALi is GOAT because he beat every one Quote

So Roger Federer being better than everyone else that came alongside to challenge him is a weak player huh? Classic strawman argument. And yes Roger Federer along with Stan Wawrinka did win the Olympic gold medal in Doubles in 2008, maybe you should come up with better facts. Also since Djokovic dominated Nadal, Djoker's 12 >>>>>>> Nadal's 15. LMAO. Quote

MJ is GOAT because he is 6 for 6 in the finals ALi is GOAT because he beat every one Not really there's no such rule, it's just something fan boys like you would make up for your convenience. Plus Rod Laver(one of the GOATs of tennis) said it pretty comprehensively that a unanimous GOAT is impossible since court conditions, racquet technology etc change over the years so it's impossible to verify whether someone that dominated the sport in 60s would do the same today, or vice-versa. As for Nadal's winning record against Federer, there are some players whose games stack up well against their opponents. The moonballing top spinners that Nadal hits against Federer's one handed backhand are quite effective for that particular style of game, same gets nullified against a two handed backhand like Djokovic's. That doesn't however mean that Djokovic is overall a better player than Nadal, or that Nadal is a better overall player than Federer. But then you would have known that had you played tennis atleast at a reasonable level in your life. Quote

Oh no you should be lost, because you had no clue apparently that doubles category has a gold medal as well at the Olympics. I just used an asinine statement you made and showed what's wrong with it. But then I guess you aren't used to that so I can understand the burn. Quote
