and for portraits I prefer lenses with good aperture. 

 

canon 50mm prime lens f1.8 / canon 135mm f2.0 / canon EF 85mm f1.2 USM are best nee budget batti

try to have a prime lens (1.4 - 1.8f-stop) .....to shoot family and kids pics 

18-200MM is good have for regular photography 

untill you are deep into photography, you dont need a macro lens

unless you shoot professinally you dont need 1.2...2...1.8 all these lens
