Big leap for Nirmala: Parakala on cloud nine!- dedicated to Vendetta & PRP fans

The unexpected promotion given to Union minister Nirmala Sitaraman during the reshuffle of the Narendra Modi cabinet has taken everybody by surprise.

Nirmala, who figured among the list of ministers to be dropped during the cabinet reshuffle, got a sudden promotion from the Minister of State to that of Cabinet minister rank.

And to her pleasant surprise, she was given the most important portfolio of Defence, which was held in the past by stalwarts like Indira Gandhi, L K Advani, Pranab Mukherjee, A K Antony and Arun Jaitely.

In fact, Nirmala is the second woman to hold the Defence Portfolio after Indira Gandhi. And after P V Narasimha Rao, she is the second woman from AP to get the portfolio.

No wonder, she credit her elevation to the most important position to "cosmic grace" and support from party leadership.

Nirmala’s elevation is definitely a major boost to her husband Parakala Prabhakar, who is presently media advisor to Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

In fact, Parakala was said to be not feeling very much comfortable with his post, because Naidu is ignoring him. But, thanks to Nirmala, he has been able to stick to his position.

Now that Nirmala has been elevated to the cabinet rank with Defence portfolio, Parakala’s clout in the TDP government will definitely go up.

One won’t be surprised if Parakala stakes claim for the Rajya Sabha ticket in the coming year
