శ్రీనివాస్ కూచిభొట్ల భార్యకు తాత్కాలిక వీసా!

డొనాల్డ్ ట్రంప్ అమెరికా అధ్యక్షుడయ్యాక ఆ దేశంలో జాత్యాహంకార దాడులు పెరిగిపోయాయిన సంగతి తెలిసిందే. తమ ఉద్యోగాలను భారతీయులు ఎగరేసుకుపోతున్నారన్న అక్కసుతో కొందరు అమెరికన్లు భారతీయుల పట్ల జాత్యాహంకార వ్యాఖ్యలు దాడులకు పాల్పడుతున్నారు. ఈ  నేపథ్యంలో ఈ ఏడాది ఫిబ్రవరిలో కన్సాస్ రాష్ట్రంలో జరిగిన జాత్యాహంకార దాడిలో శ్రీనివాస్ కూచిభొట్ల మరణించిన సంగతి తెలిసిందే. తన భర్త మరణించిన నగరంలోనే ఆయన జ్ఞాపకాలతో జీవిస్తానని శ్రీనివాస్ భార్య సునయన నిర్ణయించుకుంది. కానీ నిబంధనల ప్రకారం సునయన వీసా గడువు ఈ నెలతో ముగిసింది. అయితే సునయనకు అమెరికా ప్రభుత్వం ఏడాదిపాటు తాత్కాలిక వీసాను మంజూరు చేసింది. ఓ రిపబ్లికన్ పార్టీ నేత సాయంతో ఆమెకు ఉద్యోగం కూడా లభించింది.

శ్రీనివాస్ హెచ్-1బీ వీసాపై అమెరికాలో సాఫ్ట్ వేర్ ఇంజనీర్ గా పనిచేసేవారు. ఆయన భార్య సునయన  హెచ్-4వీసాతో (డిపెండెంట్ వీసా)  అమెరికా వచ్చి ఉద్యోగంలో కూడా చేరారు. అయితే శ్రీనివాస్ మరణించడం ఆమె డిపెండెంట్ వీసా గడువు కూడా ముగియడంతో సునయన అమెరికాలో ఉండేందుకు అధికారులు ఒప్పుకోలేదు. సునయన పరిస్థితిని అర్థం చేసుకున్న రిపబ్లికన్ పార్టీ చట్ట సభ్యుడు కెవిన్ యోడార్ ఆమెకు అండగా నిలిచారు. ఏడాదిపాటు సునయన తాత్కాలిక వీసా పొందేందుకు ఆమెకు సాయమందించారు. అంతేకాకుండా  ఆమెకు ఓర్లాండ్ పార్క్లోని మార్కెటింగ్ ఏజేన్సీలో ఓ ఉద్యోగంతోపాటు ఏడాది వీసా మంజూరు అయ్యేలా చేశారు.  భవిష్యత్తులో ఆమెకు శాశ్వత వీసా మంజూరు చేసేందుక సాయం చేస్తానని కెవిన్ హమీ ఇచ్చారు. ఫిబ్రవరి 22న తన భర్తను ఆయనతోపాటు తన నివాస హోదాను కోల్పోయిన సమయంలో సునయనకు చాలా మంది అండగా నిలిచారు. అటువంటి కష్టకాలంలో అండగా ఉన్న ప్రతి ఒక్కరికి సునయన ధన్యవాదాలు తెలిపారు. తనకు తాత్కాలిక వీసాతో పాటు ఉద్యోగం రావడానికి సహాయపడిన కెవిన్ కు కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలిపారు
