Is anyone aware of any transit issues (via Hong Kong) travelling via Cathay Pacific similar to British Airways where valid US visa is required to transit through their airport.

i dont think u need any visa if you have connecting flight and not going outside the airport.

I was just asking about transit via the Hong Kong airport while travelling from USA to India. i have no intentions of visiting Hong Kong. Since my Visa expired but have valid i797 with me i am wondering if there will be any issue.

Thanks man. Even i was thinking the same. The only case i heard was for British Airways till now where they have this valid visa issue to transit through London airport.
