Another form of virginity testing involves testing for laxity of vaginal muscles with fingers (the "two-finger test"). Examinations to test for previous sexual activity are commonly performed in India on rape victims. The Supreme Court of India has held^[8] that the two-finger test on a rape victim violates her right to privacy, and asked the Indian government to provide better medical procedures to confirm sexual assault. Human Rights Watch had strongly criticized the test as "degrading and unscientific" and a second assault on traumatized women, and raised concerns about Indian courts bringing views of rape victims' general moral character into their rulings.^[9]
