రామసేతుపై పురావస్తుశాఖ పరిశోధన

 రామేశ్వరంలోని రామసేతు లేదా ఆడమ్స్‌ బ్రిడ్జిగా పిలిచే వంతెనపై భారత పురావస్తు శాఖ పరిశోధన నిర్వహించనుంది. అయితే సముద్రనీటి కింద ఈ కార్యక్రమాన్ని చేపట్టనున్నట్టు తెలుస్తోంది. తమిళనాడులోని పంబన్‌ ద్వీపం లేదా రామేశ్వరం నుంచి శ్రీలంకలోని మన్నార్‌ వరకు రామసేతు వుంది. రామాయణకాలంలో దీన్ని నిర్మించినట్టు పురాణాలు చెబుతున్నాయి. 2008లో యూపీఏ ప్రభుత్వం సేతుసముద్రం కాలువ పథకాన్ని చేపట్టింది. ఈ నిర్మాణంలో భాగంగా రామసేతును కొన్ని ప్రాంతాల్లో మరింత లోతుకు తవ్వాల్సివుంటుంది. కానీ పలు హిందూసంస్థలు దీన్ని వ్యతిరేకించాయి. సుప్రీంకోర్టులో జరిగిన విచారణ సందర్భంగా ఈ వంతెనకు ఎలాంటి చారిత్రక, శాస్త్రీయ ఆధారాలు లేవని అప్పటి యూపీఏ ప్రభుత్వం సుప్రీంకోర్టులో అఫిడవిట్‌ దాఖలు చేసింది.

2014లో కేంద్రంలో అధికారంలోకి వచ్చిన ఎన్డీయే సర్కారు ప్రజల మనోభావాలు గౌరవిస్తామని పేర్కొంది. రామసేతును ఎట్టిపరిస్థితుల్లోనూ ధ్వంసం చేయబోమని హామీ ఇచ్చిన విషయం తెలిసిందే. ఈ అంశంపై భారత చరిత్ర పరిశోధన మండలి రామసేతు ప్రాంతంలో సముద్రగర్భంలోపరిశోధనలు నిర్వహించాలని సూచించింది. ఈ మేరకు భారత పురావస్తుశాఖ శ్రీలంకకు చెందిన పురావస్తుశాఖతో సంప్రదింపులు జరిపింది. టాంజానియాలో జరిగే సమావేశాల్లో శ్రీలంక అధికారులతో సమావేశమై తుదినిర్ణయం తీసుకోనున్నారు.

డిసెంబరులో పరిశోధనలు.. 
పరిశోధనలు డిసెంబరు మాసంలో ప్రారంభమయ్యే అవకాశముందని తెలుస్తోంది. ప్రస్తుతం ఈశాన్య రుతుపవనాలు బలంగా ఉండటంతో తమిళనాడు తీరప్రాంతంలో విస్తారంగా వర్షాలు కురుస్తాయి. తవ్వకాలకు వర్షాలు ఆటంకంగా మారే అవకాశముంది. వర్షాకాలం ముగిసిన అనంతరం డిసెంబరులో కార్యక్రమాన్ని చేపట్టవచ్చని పురావస్తుశాఖకు చెందిన అధికారి వెల్లడించారు.

త్రేతాయుగంలో నిర్మించారు.. 
త్రేతాయుగంలో రామాయణ కాలంలో ఈ వంతెనను నిర్మించినట్టు పురాణాలు పేర్కొంటున్నాయి. సీతాదేవిని లంకేశ్వరుడు రావణుడు అపహరించి లంకలో బందీగా ఉంచాడు. ఆమెను అన్వేషిస్తూ శ్రీరాముడు వానరుల సాయంతో వంతెనను నిర్మించి శ్రీలంకపైకి దండెత్తి రావణుడిని వధించి సీతాదేవి చెరవిడిపించిన విషయం విదితమే. ఆధ్యాత్మికపరంగా చూస్తే ఇది హిందువులకు పవిత్రక్షేత్రం. కానీ కొన్ని సంస్థలు వంతెన ప్రకృతి సిద్ధంగా ఏర్పడిందని వాదించాయి. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో వంతెన పూర్తి వివరాలు శోధించేందుకు భారత పురావస్తుశాఖ రంగంలోకి దిగింది.

This article covers only Mythological aspect.

I am not going into Mythological debate.

The Palk strait, Gulf of mannar and the surrounding area is very rich in biodiversity and the environmentalists have been opposing any move for excavations as it would lead to sea bed dredging activities which would seriously compromise the biodiversity present there.

This would result in loss of ecosystem and thereby marine wealth and thereby reduced fish catch which would again seriously compromise the livelihoods of many.

The loss in biodiversity is irrepairable and the consequences would be hazardous when some diaster strikes.

Further there are rare earth minerals at the same place and my economy sir mentioned about a conspiracy theory which involes a company established under patronship of Karunanidhi which would involve in exporting those excavated minerals. 

On the other hand the Govt brushes off all these concerns and hold that there wont be any negative effect on environment and biodiversity. Govt points out to the economic advantages in the form of increased commerce in all the associated ports there by creating more employment opportunities.

So there is a need for conducting research and assessment of biodiversity there. All the stakeholders like Scientists, Environmentalists, Fishermen, Local leadership, SriLankan govt should be taken into confidence before taking any desicion.
