Most of the premium credit cards have full coverage.

If you have an Amex call them and ask to be enrolled in "Premium Car Rental Protection"

They have 2 options. 1 for $20 and other for $25 (Calif lo koncham takkuva)

The way it works is, every time you rent a car, reserve and pay with Amex the benefit will be automatically applied. Atthe end of rental Amex charges the amount for the plan you opted.

The charges above (20/25) are 1 time per rental upto 42 days.

I think this is the best insurance for rental cars

Some credit cards offer Collision and Theft protection as a Primary insurance if you pay the total rental car cost through that card and decline the insurance from the rental company

This will save you a lot of money , but keep in mind that this coverage will have some exclusions and can not be compared to your typical insurance.

Also , first call up your insurance provider and ask them if your coverage can be extended for Rentals , they typically cover your rentals too if you are the only driver , however they may not cover loss of use, look up in google on what it is..

Ex: Chase Sapphire cards (upto 50k or 75k I think ) , Citi AAdvantage , United Mileage plus etc..

As someone mentioned above , Amex is also another option and cheaper than the Rental car company insurance.

Credit cards cover only "Loss and Damage Waiver" which means only  the rental car is covered. You have to take the "Liability coverage" which covers for other car if you hit them and the mistake is yours. Insurance companies offer "Non-owner's" insurance which covers for any car you drive including rental cars. call them and tell them you are in the process of buying a car, and need Non-owner's insurance as you are depending on rental cars. I pay only about 70 per month with very good coverage and 250 deductible.
