Yes, that is great way to make money. They normally sell device for much less, sometimes even less than the cost. It is recurring revenue that gets them good margins.

Yes they are. But they don't easily integrate with other tools. With Amazon, you get all systems connected. Lock, Cam, Alexa basically there will be an IoT ecosystem
