princely states--Why did they give up they kingdom

lets start with point no.1 - Sardar Patel is the greatest asshole India had birthed.

more interesting than these silly princes, is the state of Madras which wanted to form its own country, because it was administered separately in the Raj.

I wish the case for a separate country was pressed more then.

If there were a referendum conducted in Hyd state, the state would have vote to join the Indian union. its perhaps true of every princely state, except north east tribes, that fought a long and bloody war into the 80s. against the Indian state.

Can you imagine the exhilaration people felt at the time of independence. pretty sure the sentiment was prevalent in princely states too.

if the princes didn't give up their throne, not only do they have to face the Indian army, but also rebels from their kingdoms, who wanted to join India. What a promise India held for these people.

and what a disappointment it has become.

patel andarini dilli lo meeting ki pilichadu. Intha pedda India or Pakistan madyalo meeru rajyalu nadapaleru in midst of India / Pak Armies so settlement kinda titles,allowances and properties unchuko nicharu. Later most of them became MP/MLA/Ministers and were still king like so they did not bother

just few princely states join avvakunte army use chesevallu.. if hundreds of princely states join avvakunte army use cheyyaleru kada.
