Canadian elite, like US elite, is incompetent, but Canada does not have the critical mass of smart engineers/artists to build a thriving economy. The few that do exist in Canada move to the US for higher salaries, better opportunities in their field. so what we are stuck with is, a useless wine sipping elite, that invests a lot of money in pushing a liberal agenda ahead of the truth to cement their hierarchy. I'd say its almost impossible to break the glass ceiling in Canada, in terms of social class, not just for immigrants and minorities, but even for the local white youth. You have to be very smart (like Mike Lazaridis) to be able to do so. So other than a small minority, everybody is a liberal. Even conservative canadians will be way more liberal than the most liberal American political animal. In the US, we have similar incompetent elite pushing conservative agenda, which justifies exploiting fellow countrymen to make a few bucks. This is normalized as the 'American Dream' in the US. That is why, the difference in attitude between an American and a Canadian cannot be more stark. Even Canada is becoming more like America, but the pushback, both from immigrants and locals, is very hard. that's why a quasi socialist like Jagmeet Singh has a very good chance to win and be PM. I say quasi, because no western democracy can handle real socialism. Quote

He just won the leadership race for his party. Conservatives are not winning anytime soon now. If he can crack liberal stronghold of Quebec, he'll be PM. Quote

They like to pat themselves on the back for their kindness. 2. They have changed immigration policy now, so the skill visas are not easy to get as before. I'm hearing in this db that it is very easy to get Canadian PR. But I'm not really sure. Quote
