btw BA is THE important position...there are only people who can speak both business and developerment

this is a very important position, and chala projectlu sanka nakipothay....business okati chepthadhi...BA ki okati ardham avuthindhi and developers ki okati cheptharu

if the BA is technical enough, they can help a lot in the projects like giving a very rough estimate and also see if that req is possible to  be coded with the tools that they have

Just saying , any dev can do another dev work , in BA role , it may take years to gain business knowledge , tough to replace , if you think BA is not needed then you are probably working in maintenance projects or may be projects where the requirements are simple , for new requirements BAs are needed as they add value  , I agree that not all may be good though

Work in banking or healthcare you will know what business knowledge means :)

BA role is not contracting role. It will need functional people who worked in those domains with related degrees. not technical people.

No , not necessarily , in IT BA role essentially is a techno functional (unless you are working on business side where you need functional experience etc as you said).

Typically , for these techno functional positions you need to have both skills , there are a lot of tech degrees from business schools which help/groom you for these specific positions

People generally get hired if they are decent at tech and then learn business knowledge over the years..

BA is just a imaginary role created by desi mestris...these BA's dont have any business knowledge...they just use some tool they know to do data entry of meeting minutes and create a spreadsheet.

naa first project lo BA used to update ALM defect status...aa access maku kooda undhi...but meeting arrange cheyyali...one by one defects list excel sheet lo teesuku ravali...excel sheet memu iche status tho update cheyyali...

aa tarvatha same excel sheet teesukelli managers ki choopinchali...ivi  oka 2 hrs pani....inko 1 hr kurchoni ALM lo status copy paste cheyyali....

oka 2 - 3 hrs vere colleagues tho sodhi kaburlu cheppukoni...inko 2 hrs timepass

asalu real BA's are those who work in the same company for several years and got good knowledge on the old processes and systems...
