      I work in IT and I can say that there is no shortage of skilled Americans. Corporations just like to pay slave wages.

      Overall, I think we have the wrong focus based on real data/numbers. The parents/siblings/adult kids of new immigrants should be a better focus here. These "mostly" non-English speaking, lower education and skills who moved to USA based on their newly US Citizen families and they are 70%+ of all immigrants per year. A lot of them would get to apply welfare or housing assistance. We should look into this area first.

        "H1-B Visas would no longer be extended if Trump's proposal passes, reports say" Thank you President Trump. The H1-B visa decimate the rank of American IT workers in the US. They were replaced by cheaper imported H1-B visa holders, and in many cases, had to train their replacements before letting go. The American workers were perfectly qualified, they were just more expensive.

        H1-B visas are ALL about cheap skilled labor for high tech companies. Our universities turn out thousands of skilled IT and Tech workers that cannot find a job.

        I am sure there are a huge number of medical doctors, engineers and scientists that are unemployed looking for these highly specialized jobs. Please, raise your hand if you are unemployed and need to get these jobs that will be vacated by these professional.
