Hyderabad: Telangana is attracting companies both domestic and overseas, across verticals. The State’s industrial policy has provided a platform for companies to clearly see the comparative advantages in setting up base here.

The State has not only topped the national rankings in terms of ease of doing business (EoDB) but also has enabled speedy clearances for new industries and projects through its unique TS-iPASS scheme, that has set new benchmarks for other States to follow.

The latest addition to the growing investments that the State is witnessing now is in the form of a formulations company DelExcel Pharma, which is setting up a Rs 50 crore greenfield manufacturing facility at Kucharam Village, Manoharabad in Medak.

Dr Raghupathi Kandarapu, co-founder and CEO of DelExcel Pharma took to twitter to share his experience with the government in procuring clearances and licenses to start his facility.

He tweeted by saying, “After receiving TS-iPASS certificate, we have finished the construction of plant and approached Drug Control Administration Department of Government of Telangana for drug licensing. Indeed, it was simple and transparent process to get the license now as compared to few years ago. I did work as Head R&D in several pharma companies in different States for more than 15 years before founding my own. I know the difficulty and laborious nature of licensing process. To my surprise it is online now in Telangana and I received in less than a week.”

Responding to the tweet, Telangana Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, said in an official statement, “The feedback that we receive from industrialists and industry that TS-iPASS has been a transformational mechanism gives us boost to take up other major initiatives for the benefit of them. This also will pave way to fulfill our goal of creating more jobs by attracting new industries and investments ”

DelExcel is in its final stage of establishing its facility, meeting stringent regulatory requirements and is well-connected to international airport.

Prior to co-founding DelExcel, Dr Kandarapu was founder and CEO of DelSync Pharma Consulting, a pharmaceutical consulting based in Hyderabad. He also held the position of Head of Research and Development (R&D) at Aizant and alumni of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali (Punjab). He spent about 12 years with major Indian pharmaceutical companies including Aizant, Genovo, Zydus Cadila and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.

DelExcel Pharma director Madhava Rao Tumati, said, “Telangana government has the most refined clearance system for industries across India. We have for the first time experienced a corruption-free government interface. This is surely a next-generation industrial policy that a State can come out with and would not have happened anywhere else.”
