If you used all of your OPT time and then went back to school at the same level and received immediate CPT, you should be prepared for the possibility of the denial of the change of status. Unfortunately, you can’t go back in time so there is not much you can do to avoid it if it is going to happen. The only real option is to not request the change of status in your H-1B petition and try your luck at the consulate.
